For the second time this year, the Pier Antique Show is once again hosting Appraisal Day on Sunday, November 23 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. All attendees, with a valid ticket to the show, are invited to bring one item to be appraised for free by one of three expert appraisers from Skinner, Inc.

This year’s sponsor, Skinner, Inc. is an internationally recognized auction house that hosts more than 60 auctions annually.

What I really love about this sale is the huge variety of beautiful things: from the simple yet sturdy country pine furniture with honestly aging chipped paint to the more formal Chippendale and Queen Anne-style pieces crafted to demonstrate the beauty of imported woods.

In setting up the preview, I had a good time picking out some of my favorite pieces and arranging them in a way that really shows you don’t need to have just one single style in your home. You can pick your favorite pieces and mix them up to create your own aesthetic. Country and formal styles can and do go together.
