Skinner Studio Painting Sale to Offer New Collectors Original Art

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – November 3, 2011 – Skinner, Inc. will host a Discovery auction on November 16th and 17th in its Marlborough gallery. Featured in the two-day event is an impressive grouping of artwork produced by some widely recognized and other lesser-known artists, with more than 500 pieces going up for bid. With such a diverse offering of paintings, prints, works on paper, and sculptures – from traditional to modernist – new and seasoned collectors will find works to admire. The Studio Paintings sale will begin at 2pm on November 16th.

On Thursday, November 17th, Americana furnishings and decorative arts will be offered. Of particular note are collections of weathervanes, lusterware, and Ansonia wall and mantle clocks.

Skinner’s monthly Discovery auctions feature fine art finds for the ‘everyday’ collector. Recently recognized by Boston Magazine as ‘Best of Boston for antiques west of the city,’ each month’s sale allows buyers not only discover, but take home some great values in antiques and fine arts.

To view the auction property prior to the auction, attend the auction preview in person on Tuesday, November 15th, 12-5 p.m., Wednesday, November 16th, 10-6 p.m., or Thursday, November 17th before the auction, 9-10 a.m., at Skinner, 274 Cedar Hill Street, Marlborough, Mass.
