BOLTON, Mass. – March 6, 2008 www.skinnerinc.com – Skinner, Inc., one of the nation’s leading auction houses for antiques and fine art will host a two-day Discovery auction on Wednesday, March 19th and Thursday, March 20th in its Bolton, Mass. gallery, conveniently located west of Boston off Route 495 on Route 117.   Featuring Fine Silver and Estate Jewelry, the auction numbers over 1,500 lots and has something for both the novice and seasoned collector.

Notes Discovery department Director Kerry Shrives, “Skinner’s Discovery auctions feature fine silver and estate jewelry four times a year, and the quality of material offered in these sales is on par with our Boston-based auctions.  It’s a great auction for both collectors and retail buyers, and a good sale to check out if you’re new to the art of buying at auction.”

The sale also includes a wide selection of material culled from over 16 Skinner specialty departments and property from several estates and institutions.

Session I: Wednesday Evening

Session I, featuring Estate Jewelry and Fine Silver, begins on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. and includes over 250 lots of silver, including fine sterling and silver plated flatware, serving, and decorative items.  Highlights include pieces by Tiffany, Gorham, Whiting, Wallace, Theodore W. Foster, Hurd, D. A. Norway, and other makers of fine silver in the form of flatware sets, serving pieces, and a variety of interesting decorative silver items.  Jewelry offerings include a varied selection of Victorian and Antique jewelry, several examples of Jensen and other Scandinavian made silver jewelry, assorted Art Deco and Art Nouveau pieces, and several lots of wrist and pocket watches.

Session II: Thursday

Session II will be held Thursday beginning at 10 a.m.   The auction numbers over 800 lots and includes 180 lots paintings and prints, a fine selection of clocks and timepieces, country American furniture and decorative accessories, Victorian and European furniture, custom reproduction furniture from Sacks and Old Colony, Asian furniture and decorative accessories, Mid-century Modern furniture, varied offerings of glassware and china, and 50 lots of Oriental rugs and carpets.
