BOSTON, MA – February 19, 2016 – Skinner, Inc. is pleased to announce a Fine Wines online auction, with bidding open from Thursday, February 18 through Thursday, February 25. Find wonderful wines, spirits and ales to re-stock your cellar, supply a weekend getaway or savor at a gathering with friends in these colder winter months, among more than 900 selections from around the world to suit any budget, taste or occasion.
Fine Wines
Skinner invites buyers to take a tour through the world’s best wine-growing regions. The sale’s selections begin in Champagne and move steadily through Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhone valley before leaving France for Italy, Germany, Spain and the New World. Many lots have been sourced from important private collections and have been maintained in professional storage.
Bordeaux is very well represented, with first growth selections including cases of Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1985 (Lot 1014, estimated between $4,000 and $6,000) and Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1985 (Lot 1025, $2,500-$3,250), as well as other cased lots of the classic 1985 vintage including Clos de Marquis 1985 (Lot 1087, $400-$600) and others.
Fine and rare Burgundy including a case of Philippe Colin Chevalier Montrachet 2010 (Lot 1172, $1,800-$2,400) will draw enthusiasts, while a 12-bottle lot of Chapoutier Ermitage Le Meal Rouge 2000 (Lot 1219, $1,000-$1,400) leads a strong selection of wines from the Southern and Northern Rhone.
The history of modern age Napa wine making is found in early bottlings from iconic producers such as Ridge Vineyards, Inglenook and Quilceda Creek. Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon from the York Creek, Fiddletown and Geyserville vineyards from the 1960s and 1970s and Inglenook with such descriptive labels as Charbono (Dry, Red and Robust) and Gamay (Light Red Burgundy) give a sense of the pioneering spirit working the vines and captured in these bottles.
Spirits
The sale also offers a wide variety of Whisky and Rare Spirits in all price categories. Among a selection of Fine Cognacs are Remy Martin Louis XIII offerings from two different eras: the late 1950’s (Lot 1496, $2,500-$3,000) and c. 1990 (Lot 1497, $1,500-$2,000).
Single Malt Scotch offerings include Ardbeg Provenance 1974 (Lot 1517, $1,500-$2,000); Balvenie Single Cask selections from 1966 (Lot 1525, $1,500-$2,000) and 1970 (Lot 1518, $1,300-$1,700); Bowmore 1964 Trilogy Series Bourbon Wood (Lot 1535, $5,000-$6,000); Glenury Royal 50 Years Old (Lot 1588, $3,000-$4,000); Laphroaig 40 Years Old (Lot 1602, $3,000-$4,000); and Springbank Local Barley bottlings from vintages 1965 (Lot 1636, $1,200-$1,500) and 1966 (Lot 1637, $1,300-$1,800). A full crate of Glen Garry from the Glen Elgin Distillery (Lot 1670, $1,000-$1,200) and a set of Johnnie Walker Oldest for the Japanese Market, with “whiskies over 60 years old” (Lot 1681, $2,000-$2,500) highlight a grouping of older blended scotch.
Highlighting a large array of Bourbons and Ryes are five lots of AH Hirsch Bourbon 1974; many lots of Pappy Van Winkle (in all age statements); Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (a number of single bottles and several original 3-packs); and very old and rare bottlings including three lots of Overholt 1909 (Lots 1818-1820, $800-$1,000 each). Expressions from the highly prized, closed distillery, Stitzel-Weller, include Old Fitzgerald and Very Old Fitzgerald: vintage 1952 bottled 1960 (Lot 1801, $1,500-$2,000), vintage 1958 bottled 1966 for the German Market (Lot 1802, $1,200-$1,500), and a set of six Irish Charms Decanters bottled 1977 (Lot 1794, $1,300-$1,700).

I have two bottles of Macallan 1874 whisky. How would I go about offering them for auction? What are the fees?
