The Story of Rugs is the Story of Civilization

A Lecture by Lawrence M. Kearney

This talk will explore the development of rugs and related textiles through the ages: from Tribal cultures, such as the Baktiari of Southwestern Iran and the Turkoman weavers of Central Asia; through village weavings, such as Kazak and Northwest Persian rugs; into 19th and 20th century workshop production where the emphasis is on sophisticated design and the use of sumptuous materials, such as silk Tabrizes and Kashans.
