Erhart Muller: The Man Behind the Collection
A Lecture by Maggie Stier, New Hampshire Preservation Alliance
Friday, June 3 | 6PM | Marlborough
Maggie Stier met Erhart Muller in the late 1980’s when she was curator at the Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, Massachusetts. Their shared interest in the Shakers led to a friendship based first on explorations around the Harvard Shaker Village, where Mr. Muller lived, then later to a shared project to document Muller’s Shaker collection.
Stier has held museum positions at Vermont’s Shelburne Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and Dartmouth’s Hood Museum. She was the founding director of The Fells Historic Estate and Gardens on Lake Sunapee, and for the past ten years has served as the statewide field service representative for the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance, helping people protect and revive historic buildings and encouraging preservation activity as a way to strengthen communities and stimulate local economies. She is a frequent speaker on New Hampshire’s cultural history, and holds degrees from Vassar, Boston University and Antioch University.
This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Refreshments will be served.
