Mahogany-cased Table Clock Signed "Breguet," mid-19th century, flat-top figured mahogany case with hinged bezel and convex glass, 4 3/4-in. signed enameled dial with blued hands, eight-day time and half-hour countwheel strike with silk thread suspension movement, pendulum tie-down, case bottom drilled with five 3/4-in. dia. holes for sound, sliding case back, all resting on cast brass paw feet, ht. 11 1/4 in.

Note: By direct descent, 7th generation, of Rufus King, an American founding father and signer of the United States Constitution in 1787.

Appears to be original finish, small chips to dial edges, minute hand possibly old replacement. Winding setting and ticking, time accuracy has not been tested. Case back construction is of an oak panel sandwiched between two thick mahogany veneer pieces with a sliding joint.
