L'Education du Coeur, Carrara marble sculpture carved as a child reaching for its mother's locket while she sits on a vanity stool, base signed "G. Mon___ ROMA" and dated 1877, ht. 41 in.

Light allover surface staining and darkening. Scattered chips to circular base. Possible surface abrasion to one tip of a finger of the child. Two of the childs fingers broken and reattached, one broken off again.
