Portrait of a Young Aristocrat, Said to be Louis XVI as the Dauphin, c. 1768
Unsigned, inscribed on the stretcher and frame in a later hand, also identified on a handwritten card (see below).
Oil on canvas, 161/2 x 13 7/8 in. (42.0 x 35.0 cm),framed.
Condition: Lined, retouch, craquelure, surface grime.
N.B. There is a small handwritten card inserted behind the stretcher that attributes this work to French School, 17th Century, Circle of Mignard, Oil on canvas, Portrait of the Dauphin. Comparisons can certainly be made to portraits by Pierre Mignard (French, 1612-1695)
