Description:
WWI French Artillery Spotting Binoculars, E. Krauss, Paris, 1916, "Longue-Vue Binoculaire," 12x magnification, with crosshairs and +/- 10 degree graduations on the right optic. The binoculars are in working order with original wooden field tripod, and original hardened canvas and leather cases. The tripod case is hand painted "105th F. A. A for 5756."
Specialized for trench warfare, these periscopic binoculars with high magnification would have allowed a spotter to safely observe enemy movements and help coordinate precision artillery strikes without exposing themselves to enemy fire.
