Ferdinand Bol (Dutch, 1616-1680)

Bearded Old Man, Profile to Right, later impression (Bartsch 295). Unsigned. Etching on laid paper, oval plate, 2 13/16 x 2 1/16 in. (7.2 x 5.2 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Pale foxing, stabilized tear l.l., old hinges to verso, pencil and ink annotations to verso, collector's marks to verso.

Provenance: Ex-collection of German book and print seller Johann Hermann Ludwig Weber (1817-1854) according to collector's mark (Lugt, 1383); Ex-collection of Hungarian collector and jurist Georg (György) Ràth (1828-1904) according to collector's mark (Lugt, 1206).

The tear is visible as the brown ragged diagonal line on the face of the image. The tear is about 1/2 inch and just barely goes into the image.
