Signed "J.C. Fitzgerald" in ink on the reverse, also dated "1885" in pencil on the reverse.
Oil on canvas, 26 x 16 in. (66.0 x 40.5 cm),framed.
Condition: Scattered dots of retouch primarily to the background, stable craquelure.
N.B. Born in New Jersey, J.C. Fitzgerald studied at The Pennsylvania Museum School of Industrial Art and at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where he participated in Annual Exhibitions between 1889 and 1892. He resided in Philadelphia.
