The Green Door
Signed "JESSIE WILLCOX SMITH" lower left, titled lower center.
Mixed media including coated charcoal and/or lithographic crayon and gouache coated with fixative on pressed paperboard, sheet size 24 x 15 7/8 in. (60.8 x 40.3 cm),unframed.
Condition: Surface losses and abrasions, toning to the paperboard, yellowing to the fixative, fading in the foliate decoration on the lettering along the bottom edge.

This work does not come with a frame.
There is a subtle surface bulge to the lower left quadrant such that the paperboard does not lie absolutely flat. There is fine stable craquelure overall to the fixative layer. Small surface losses (3/16 to 1/4 inch) to lower left quadrant in the shadowed cobblestones below the green door and in the text block. A 1-1/2 inch vertical abrasion with paint loss measuring about 3/4 inch in the green door. A 2-inch horizontal abrasion with paint loss measuring about 1 inch in the girl's hair. Other scattered abrasions. Wear and surface losses to the edges of the paperboard. Surface grime.
