Sunny Afternoon on the Mohawk Trail, Winter, alternatively titled On the Mohawk Trail, Charlemont, Mass.
Signed "R. Emmett Owen" lower left; titled as above on two gummed labels, presumed to be in the artist's hand, one dated "...Jan. 1935," both affixed to old backing paper now tacked to the stretcher.
Oil on canvas, 18 x 24 in. (46.0 x 60.7 cm),framed.
Condition: Possible small area of retouch to upper left corner, minor lines of craquelure to center, slight rippling to canvas in upper left quadrant, minor surface grime.
Estimate $1,000-1,500
Framed dimensions are 25 7/8 x 31 7/8 x 2 1/2 inches.
There is a third label, this one a typed label tacked to the back of the frame, that gives yet another title, "Road to Pound Ridge from Bedford, New York - An Old Barn."
