American Horseman's Saber, c. 1770-80, utilizing a brass hilt from a British infantry hanger with a heart-shaped counter guard and turned pommel, plain walnut grip; curved single-edge blade with false edge at tip and single fuller, etched inscription on both sides reading "Deus peopobis/[-]ius Contra nos," blade lg. 33 3/4, overall lg. 39 1/4 in.

Hilt toned to a dark brown/yellow and is fairly tight; blade is toned to mostly deep gray/brown and has areas of moderate pitting.
