Two Hessian Musket Socket Bayonets, c. third quarter of the 18th century, one with three step mortice for bottom mounted bayonet lug on a long curved shank connecting to a triangular blade marked "MH" in a sunken cartouche on the top of the blade, the bottom of the blade with two fullers and median ridge; the other bayonet with three step mortice for bottom mounted bayonet lug, the socket engraved "No Z 69" on the top face as mounted, short shank connecting to an unmarked triangular blade with two fullers and median ridge on the bottom, largest socket lg. 3 5/8, blade lg. 13 5/8 in.

The bayonet marked "MH" with scattered areas of thick heat scale, the top of the blade with area of brass fused to blade; the bayonet marked "No Z 69" with all over oxidation and moderate pitting.
