Description:
Large "Holland" Canteen, late 18th/early 19th century, staved with narrow iron hoops and bent wood swing handle secured to the spout stave with two wood screws, one side stencil marked "HOLLAND.," the other side stamped "AG" within an oval zig-zag frame; dia. 10 3/8, wd. 5 1/8 in.
Note: In the 18th century "Hollands" was the name given to Dutch gin.
