Description:

Five Transferware Jugs, England, c. 1800-1840, an earthenware jug printed in blue underglaze with the Bungalow pattern, unmarked, ht. 7 3/4; a vase-shaped earthenware jug printed in blue underglaze with the wraparound French Hornblower pattern, unmarked, ht. 7 1/4; an earthenware jug printed in brown underglaze with the Pagoda and Palms pattern, brown enameled rim, unmarked, ht. 6 5/8; an earthenware jug with a wrap-around Garden Stroll with Parasol pattern, unmarked, ht. 6 1/2; an earthenware molded jug printed in blue underglaze with an unidentified Romantic period Chinoiserie pattern, a blue ground painted on molded portions of the handle and the name "John Poulson" under the spout, "A Present for John" printed on the base with the painted letter P added, unmarked, ht. 7/8 in

Provenance: The Zeller Collection.
Estimate $400-600

Bungalow jug: Very good condition with a ship to spout that was professionally restored.

French Hornblower jug: Very good condition with only one small chip to the underside of the jug.

Pagoda and Palms jug: Very good conditino with no damage or restoration. Minor kiln burn to one side of the pot within the pattern.

Garden Strill jug: Very good condition. A professional restoration was done to chips on the spout and to the bottom of the handle. A small 1/8 in. spot of glaze and color can be found on the bottom left of the pattern.

Romantic period jug: Very good condtion with minor restoration to a couple of chips on the interior rim.
