It is hard to believe that this card serves as the rookie card for both NBA legends Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. Bird and Johnson were first college rivals before their Celtics and Lakers battles. Bird's Indiana State team squared off against Johnson's Michigan State team for the 1978-79 NCAA Championship. Bird scored 19 points to lead his Sycamores, but Johnson scored 24 points and quarterbacked the Spartans to victory. Their 1980's NBA rivalry revitalized a moribund league. Point Forward Bird led the Celtics to three NBA crowns, while winning 3 MVP awards and making 12-time All-Star teams. Johnson helped bring the Los Angeles Lakers five NBA titles, and also wonn three MVP's and made 12 All-Star teams.
