Early Scottish Backsword, mid-17th century, steel basket hilt with wide open structure and narrow panels, short broad pommel with line decoration, on a straight single-edge blade with single wide fuller, false edge at the tip and punched abstract bladesmith's mark near the hilt, blade lg. 35 7/8, overall lg. 41 1/4 in.
