U.S. Surcharged French Model 1771 Socket Bayonet, c. 1771, the socket with short slot oriented for a bottom mounted bayonet lug, locking ring, and "US" mark on the top surface, curved shank connecting to a triangular blade with fuller at the tip of the blade, the bottom with two deep fullers and high medial ridge, the top of the blade with two maker's stamps at the base, blade lg. 13 1/2, overall lg. 17 1/4 in.
