Rare French Officer's Gorget, France, third quarter 18th century, cast brass gorget with narrow upturned lip at the top and raised line decoration along the bottom edge, silvered stamped sheet copper royal device attached to the center of the plate by two small pins, the reverse with scraped and burnished surface, ht. 4, wd. 4 7/8 in.

Front has wear minor wear on gilding exposing some underlying brass, silvered device has a loss of leaves on the left side; back has an area of pitting from old corrosion.
