Federal Mahogany and Tiger Maple Veneer Inlaid Desk, Massachusetts or New Hampshire, c. 1795-1800, the top section with inlaid edge above two crossbanded doors opening to a valanced, compartmented interior of six drawers, the projecting lower case with fold-out writing surface and cockbeaded drawers of tiger maple bordered by mahogany crossbanding, joining square string-inlaid tapering legs with cuffs, old brasses, refinished, (minor imperfections),ht. 49 1/2, wd. 40 3/4, dp. 19 in.
