Oil on canvas, 32 x 28 in., the girl stands on a colorful ingrain carpet.
Condition: Very minor inpainting.
Provenance: Jeffrey Tillou, Litchfield, Connecticut.
Note: Robert Peckham lived most of his life in Westminster, Massachusetts, and was appointed Deacon of the First Congregational Church. Peckham was a dedicated abolitionist and his home was part of the Underground Railroad. The National Gallery of Art exhibited a group of his portraits of children.
