Four Cobalt-decorated Stoneware Items, New England, mid to late 19th century, three bird-decorated crocks with cylindrical bodies and attached lug handles, marked "J NORTON & CO. BENNINGTON VT.," "HAXSTUN & CO. FORT EDWARD. N.Y. 4," and "N.A. WHITE & SON UTICA. N.Y. 6," and a bird-decorated jug with cylindrical body, rounded shoulders, and attached strap handles, marked "A.B. WHEELER & CO. BOSTON MASS.," ht. to 18 1/4 in.

From l. to r.: Haxstun crock, no obvious damage or repair; R.A. White & Son crock, has a fine hairline crack extending from the rim to nearly the base and has a braided copper wire band around the neck; small Norton crock, has a hairline crack extending from the rim to just above the bird; Wheeler jug has some fine spalling of the glaze near the base.
