New Guinea Suspension Food Hook, Iatmul, Middle Sepik River Province, mid-20th century, with the head and torso of an ancestor figure, with cowrie shell eyes, the lower part made up of five large upturned hooks, one of which has the head of a fish, the rear with large lug for suspension at the head, ht. 27 1/2, wd. 15 in.
