Giovanni "Gio" Ponti (Italian, 1891-1979) for Venini Bottle with Stopper, Murano Italy, c. 1948, likely Model No. 1591, incalmo technique in red and smoke gray, acid etched signature "VENINI MURANO ITALY," ht. 13 1/2 in.

Note: Ponti was an Italian architect, industrial designer, furniture designer, artist, teacher, writer and publisher. From 1946 to 1950, he designed many objects for Venini including bottles and a multicolored chandelier.
