Edward Wormley (1907-1995) Constellation Table for Dunbar, Berne, Indiana, c. 1960, top black lacquer with circular wood inlays, out-curved wood legs, metal "D" mark, paper label for Massingill, Pittsburgh, ht. 18 3/4, dia. 13 in.

Note: Wormley was an American modern furniture designer. In 1926 he studied briefly at the Art Institute of Chicago and then worked as an interior designer for Marshall Fields & Company. In 1944, while working for Dunbar, Wormley led their Modern focus incorporating European and Scandinavian influences into their lines. The result was furniture that was sophisticated yet mainstream, and very successful.
