George Nelson (1908-1986) for Herman Miller MAA (Swag-leg) Chair, Zeeland, Michigan, c. 1960, molded light yellow fiberglass seat and with stainless steel fittings and original rubber shock mounts on a bent tubular steel base, the back flexes, paper patents label and maker's "Silver Medal" label, ht. 33 1/2, wd. 28, dp. 25 in.
Note: Nelson was an American industrial designer. While lead designer for the Herman Miller furniture company, Nelson and his design studio, George Nelson Associates, designed 20th-century modernist furniture. Ray and Charles Eames, Harry Bertoia, Richard Schultz, Donald Knorr, and Isamu Noguchi all worked for Herman Miller, under Nelson's supervision. He is considered a founder of American modernist design.

Good condition. Seat and backrest free from chips and cracks. Wear to rubber back supports consistent with age and use. Some minor pitting to chrome legs. Missing swivel foot at end of leg.
