Louis XV-style Gilt-mounted Kingwood and Tulipwood Parquetry Liquor Box or Tantalus, France, late 19th century, the serpentine hinged top with hinged sides opens to reveal a fitted interior with gilt-decorated and engraved decanters and cordial glasses., overall ht. 10, wd. 13, dp. 9 3/4 in.

interior of lock detached. hinges work well and case closes completely. inlay, mounts, and veneer in good condition. minor warp to front. square-based cordials appear to be of the same vintage as the bottles, six cordials with circular bases are by association and appear later, but are good fits for the case; three bottles match, one is by association but a good fit for the case.
