Still Life with Fruit and Bird's Nest
Signed and dated "WHughes/1864" l.r.
Oil on academy board, 14 x 18 in. (35.5 x 45.0 cm),framed.
Condition: Craquelure with flaking and losses to foreground pear, other areas of craquelure, minor bowing, frame abrasions, and minor losses and wear to the corners of the support.

Provenance: Collection of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Boston.
Estimate $800-1,200

Framed dimensions are 21 1/8 x 25 1/4 x 1 3/4 inches, with a label from Guarisco Gallery, Ltd., affixed to the back of the frame.

Academy board stenciled "FP 193" and with a label from Winsor & Newton on the reverse.

The work is slightly loose in its frame.
