Condition: Varnish discoloration, faint stretcher bar marks, surface imperfections and grime.
N.B. Extreme clipper ship Westward Ho launched from the yard of Donald McKay of East Boston on September 14, 1852. She sailed from Boston on her maiden voyage around the world on October 16, 1852 under the command of Captain William O. Johnson. In this portrait of the vessel by Spencer she is flying the house flag of Messrs. Sampson & Tappan, her owners.
