Douglas Warner Gorsline (American, 1913-1985)
Two Works: Battle Stations, 1942, and On Leave, 1944. Both signed and dated "...Gorsline..." in pencil l.r., monogrammed within the plates, and titled in pencil l.l. Engravings on paper, plate sizes to 10 7/8 x 8 in. (27.5 x 20.2 cm),matted, unframed.
Condition: Minor toning and/or soiling to margins, most edges deckled.

Battle is a laid sheet measuring approximately 12 1/2 x 81/4 in. (the sheet is not square). There are finger prints and pencil annotations to the lower margin and pale staining (possibly water?) near the edge of the upper margin and running much of its length. There is an unpressed crease to the lower margin, near the edge and running all the way across. There are areas of soiling (glue residue?) near the lower corners on verso. Leave is a laid sheet measuring 12 1/2 x 10 in. The area within the mat opening is stained evenly and gently darker. There are finger prints to the upper corners of the margins and pale staining/soilng, especially along the right edge of the sheet.
