Le cirque ambulant, 1969, proof outside of the edition of 50 (Mourlot, 583). Signed "Marc Chagall" in pencil l.r., numbered "épreuve d'artiste XIV/XXV" in pencil l.l. Color lithograph on paper, image size 14 3/8 x 21 1/4 in. (36.5 x 53.8 cm),framed.
Condition: Gentle rippling, not examined out of frame.

Provenance: From the collection of Dr. Bernard Cohen, Gloucester, Massachusetts; by descent to the current owner.

Out of the frame the sheet is a watermarked Arches paper measuring19 5/8 x 25 1/2 in. and with deckled lower and right edges. The area within the mat opening is light-stained. There is gentle staining to the verso from the inks. Both hinges along the upper edge (verso) are broken, and there is a 3/4 in tear to the upper layer of the paper from the hinge's demise.
