Frank Weston Benson (American, 1862-1951)
Redheads Coming, 1930, proof impression E-3 (Paff, 302). Signed "FrankW.Benson." in pencil l.l. Etching on laid paper with "J WHATMAN" watermark, plate size 8 x 15 in. (20.3 x 38.1 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Full sheet with deckled edges, handling creases and soiling/fingerprints to margins, pencil annotations to margin l.l.
Provenance: Descended within the family of the artist.
N.B. Proof E was created after the published edition of 150 was completed. According to Paff, the plate was "regrounded and rebitten for strength."

The handling creases are primarily to the right margin. There is also cockling to the left and right edges.
