Frank Weston Benson (American, 1862-1951)
Over Currituck Marshes, 1926, published state, edition of 150 (Paff, 259). Signed "FrankWBenson." in pencil l.l. Drypoint on laid paper, plate size 7 x 11 7/8 in. (17.5 x 30.0 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Full sheet with two edges deckled, minor handling creases (mostly to left margin),pencil annotations to margins, old hinges to upper corners on verso.
Provenance: Descended within the family of the artist.
N.B. The Currituck Marshes fall between the mainland and the Outer Banks in North Carolina, and include the Pine Island Audubon Sanctuary, which is now owned and conserved by Audubon North Carolina. It is a favorite spot with local birders.
