Waltham Mahogany and Gilt-front Lyre "Banjo" Clock, c. 1930, convex glass over the signed roman numeral dial with crescent-moon-shaped hands, carved and gilt acanthus leaf panels enclosing the reverse-painted patriotic-theme tablets, eight-day time-only movement regulated by a wood rod pendulum and lead weight, ht. 44 in. with finial.
Provenance: For years, this clock was at Frederick J. Shepard's house at 31 Chestnut Street in Boston (from roughly 1925 to 1992); then to the current owner by family descent in 1992.
