Pine Blanket Chest, Wethersfield, Connecticut, area, late 18th century, the top with applied molded edge above a well with open till, on tall cutout valanced skirt, remnants of old red wash, (imperfections),ht. 27 3/4, wd. 46 3/4, dp. 17 1/2 in.
Note: Indistinct old pencil and crayon inscriptions to underside of top may related to the Kingsbury family of Glastonbury, Connecticut, according to the consignor.
Estimate $1,200-1,500
hinges replaced, small repairs to back edge of top, hasp locking mechanism removed, with patch at front edge of lid and evidence on facade.
