After Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669)
The Artist's Mother in Widow's Dress and Black Gloves (Bartsch 344, Holl. 344, Hind 91). Signed "Rembrandt" in the plate u.l. Etching on paper, 6 x 4 5/8 in., framed. Condition: Staining, toning, trimmed to the plate mark, not examined out of frame.
N.B. This work is thought to have been created by a pupil of Rembrandt.

Framed dimensions 10 1/2 x 8 1/2 x 3/8 inches.
A note inscribed on the frame backing paper reads, "Boon does not consider this to be a true Rembrandt (see Bibliographic note and lack of an entry). Notice a secondary working of the plate that appears greatly divergent from a technical standpoint. R.H. Corn..."
