R. Parker for TWA, 96 pts. 10/94 "The 1945 is a remarkably young, backward, massive Gruaud-Larose, similar in style to the 1961, 1975, 1982, and 1986. Still opaque, garnet/black-colored, with a tight but promising nose of licorice, black fruits, and herbs, this full-bodied, meaty, chewy wine exhibits huge reserves of fruit, as well as a spicy, powerful, tannic finish. While it can be drunk now (I would suggest decanting of at least an hour),it is another immortal 1945 that will last for another 20-30 years."
