Signed "Robert Henri" l.l., identified and dated "...Late Afternoon Sun, Atlantic City, 1892" on labels from Maynard Walker and from Chapellier Galleries, both New York, affixed to the frame backing.
Oil on canvas, 12 1/2 x 18 1/4 in. (31.5 x 46.5 cm),framed.
Condition: Lined, minor retouch including dots to the c.l. edge and in the water u.c.
Provenance: Collection of Franklin B. Biggs, Middletown, Delaware; Collection of James P. Marenakos, Stonington, Connecticut.
N.B. The labels on the reverse reference the painting at hand in Henri's journals as #128 A2, where the artist has provided not only the title, but the time of day and date for the painting.

Framed dimensions are 19 3/8 x 25 1/8 x 1 1/2 in.
Through the wax lining on the back you can see that the canvas is marked "128/A/2" in heavy black pigment.
