Signed "F.H. Shapleigh." l.r., identified and titled on a label from The Banks Gallery, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, tucked behind the stretcher.
Oil on canvas, 10 x 16 in. (25.4 x 40.6 cm), framed.
Condition: Lined, craquelure, scattered minor retouch.
Provenance: A private New Hampshire collection.
Estimate $700-900
Frame dimensions: 15 1/4 x 21 3/8 x 2 1/2 in.
The painting has been recently cleaned. Retouch just above the ducks in the center of the pond and also above the window in the mill and along the horizon line to the right of the mill. A veil of residual pigment or discoloration to the sky u.r. and in the landscape l.r.
