Note: Highlighted in the 2017 Colby-Sawyer College exhibition Inner Visions: Selections from the Collection of Beverly Stearns Bernson. Of Irish and American Indian descent, Popeye Reed began carving and furniture making at 14. Later in life, he developed his own mythology including winged sphinxes and mermaids.
