Jacques Henri Lartigue (French, 1894-1986)

Nine Photographs from J-H Lartigue: A Collector's Portfolio, 1903-1916, printed 1978. Numbered "573" of an edition of 5,000 English-language portfolios and 7,500 portfolios worldwide, and signed "J.H. LARTIGUE" with the artist's cipher in ink on a label affixed to the portfolio interior, each numbered in pen l.r., with the artist's dry stamp cipher l.l., and presented in a folder embossed with title and a portfolio dry stamp. Nine gold-toned gelatin silver prints, image sizes to 7 1/2 x 8 1/2 in (19.1 x 21.6 cm), folder size 16 x 13 in. (40.6 x 33.0 cm), each mounted inside folder and presented in the original clamshell box.
Condition: Pale foxing and minor soiling to folders, significant wear to clamshell box.

N.B. Zissou conduisant son 'Bob a 4 Roues' avec oléo et Louis comme passagers trop chargé le Bob va entrer dans un arbre is missing from the portfolio. The portfolio dry stamp reads: "ENGLISH LANGUAGE/PORTFOLIO/SUPERVISED/BY/J. H. LARTIGUE." Nine corresponding mats accompany the lot.

Very few with minor crack in emulsion near edges, few with minor pinprick accretions to margin (covered by window mat), see condition photos for further details. One of the inside covers of the clamshell box has separated from the structure while the opposite fold of the inside cover has torn significantly.
