Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669)
Nude Man Seated and Another Standing, with a Woman and Baby Lightly Etched in the Background, c. 1646, first state (Bartsch/Boon & White, 194 i/iii). Unsigned. Etching on laid paper with foolscap watermark, plate size 7 5/8 x 4 15/16 in. (19.3 x 12.5 cm),framed.
Condition: Trimmed along or just outside of the plate mark, toning, staining, repair to left edge, pencil annotations to verso.
Estimate $1,000-1,500
The sheet is adhered in at least four spots to the backing mat so the full verso is not visible. A lifetime (or nearly so) impression.
