Costa Rican Jade Staff-bearer Pendant, Atlantic watershed region, c. 300-700 AD, the monkey standing on bent legs and holding a double-headed staff before him, an alligator's head at the base with teeth bared, the top carved as a perched bird, in blue-green veined stone, lg. 3 1/4 in.
