Loredano Rosin (Italian, 1936-1991) Two FacesGlass Sculpture, Murano, Italy, signed "Loredano Rosin" to side and underside of base, ht. 24, wd. 14, dp. 4 3/4 in.
Note: Rosin was born in Venice, Italy and studied with Romano Zanelli and Cocui Saor as a teenager before establishing his own studio, where he worked with his brothers Mirko and Dino Rosin. Rosin worked as a master glass blower for Salviati & Company, where he notably collaborated with artists such as Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall. Today, his works are held in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, among others. Rosin died in the Venice lagoon from head injuries sustained after colliding with a mooring post on his water-scooter. His tragic death marked the loss of one of glass-art's greatest innovators.
