Description:

Two Mario Bellini for Cassina Model CAB 412 and Two de Couro of Brazil Side Chairs, Italy and Brazil, late 20th century, designed 1979, welded steel frames, saddle leather, two de Couros in wine, two CAB 412s in burnt orange, impressed maker's mark on both, ht. 32, wd. 20, dp. 18 1/2 in.

Note: Bellini is an internationally-renowned architect and designer. Twenty-five of his works are in the permanent design collection of MoMA. This sale features a number of models from Bellini's CAB family of chairs. Designed in 1970s, CAB Chairs are now signature pieces in Cassina's Contemporanei collection. CAB was the first chair to feature a freestanding leather structure. Bellini was inspired by how human skin fits over the skeleton. The upholstery consists of sixteen pieces of die-cut saddle-grade leather, sewn together, stretched over the chair's steel 'skeleton,' and then held in place by zippers—Timeless style combined with the durability of leather which warms over time.
