Dimitri Omersa for Abercrombie and Fitch Leather Kangaroo, England, mid to late 20th century, leather, unmarked, ht. 22 1/2, wd. 22, dp. 29 in.
Note: Omersa, a Yugoslav by birth, had been a naval officer and a political prisoner having been imprisoned by Tito for 10 years after the second world war. Omersa and his wife Inge sought refuge in England and in 1955 took over a business supplying leather pigs to Liberty of London. In the 1970s, Omersa expanded his market to North America and distributed his leather animals through Abercrombie and Fitch.
