Two Edward Wormley (1907-1995) for Dunbar Twin Beds, Berne, Indiana, c. 1955, mahogany, with maker's metal label, ht. 36 1/2, 30, wd. 42, dp. 80 in.

Wormley was an American modern furniture designer. In 1926 he studied briefly at the Art Institute of Chicago and then worked as an interior designer for Marshall Fields & Company. In 1944, while working for Dunbar, Wormley led their Modern focus incorporating European and Scandinavian influences into their lines. The result was furniture that was sophisticated yet mainstream, and very successful.
